Tea Towel - Reginald the Regent Honeyeater
Reginald the Regent Honeyeater with his distinctive black, yellow and white colouring, features the striking artwork of Melbourne based artist Lucinda Brash, using acrylic and water-colour.
Previously found widely across south eastern mainland Australia, it is now spotted in Victoria and New South Wales, and is well known on the western slopes of the Great Dividing Range.
The Regent Honeyeater has been badly affected by land-clearing, with the clearance of the most fertile stands of nectar-producing trees and the poor health of many remnants, as well as competition for nectar from other honeyeaters, being the key challenges. It is now listed as an endangered species.
Saddened by Australia's devastating bushfires and heartened by people, communities pulling together, Lucinda's collection of art features animals and birds who have been directly impacted and who's homes have been destroyed in many regions.
